Recent update re Covid 19 issued by Dive Ireland to its members on 7th Jan 2021
As we have stated in previous EZINEs regarding COVID 19 it becomes very difficult to organise or participate in diving activities at Level 5 in the government plan for managing the disease.  The advice provided in the DAN/BDSG document remains valid for dealing with all aspects of COVID as before.  Additionally, the protocols developed and approved by Sport Ireland in the Guidance for return to diving document also remain valid.
Our insurance will remain in place as some very limited diving and snorkelling may still take place within the current restrictions.  There is also a possibility of callouts by some of our Search and Recovery units.  The relevant guidance for training under the guidelines is summarised below but these activities must take place within 5km of ones place of residence at present.
The specific area in the Government advice is detailed in the following section that covers training.
•             “People may meet with people from one other household in outdoor settings when taking exercise.”
•             No indoor or outdoor exercise group activities, including those involving children, should take place.
•             Outdoor golf and tennis are not permitted.
•             Individual training only. No exercise or dance classes. No indoor or outdoor gatherings involving “individual training” except for professional and elite sports.
